- July 7... Nova Scotia is seeking bids for offshore natural gas exploration on the Scotian Shelf, aiming to develop its 3.2 trillion cubic feet of reserves. The Minister of Energy says this initiative promises job creation, economic growth, and long-term investment for the province.
- July 4... A 61-year-old man from Amherst died in a motorcycle crash on Hwy. 104 near Salt Springs Station yesterday. The motorcycle left the road and landed in the median.
- July 3... The Nova Scotia School Lunch Program, which served over 4.7 million lunches in its first year, will expand to all middle and junior high schools next year. The program, which will continue in elementary schools, will offer new menu options, sustainable packaging, and improved delivery and service standards.
- July 3... Former MP Bill Casey called for a letter campaign to save the Amherst Armoury. He says write to David McGinty, Minister of National Defence, House of Commons, Ottawa, ON. No stamp is required when writing to an MP.
- July 4... Shocked by the closure of the Amherst Armoury, Mayor Rob Small says, “Not a dime has been put into that place. It just continues to go downhill.” The community wants to re-purpose the building for affordable and veteran housing while retaining the military museum and the cadet movement.
- July 2 ... Nova Scotia received the highest score from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business for removing internal trade barriers and promoting mutual recognition of goods, services, and workers. The province’s Free Trade and Labour Mobility within Canada Act has sparked action from other governments, improving the flow of goods and services. Nova Scotia has also made strides in labour mobility, with 71% of regulatory bodies issuing decisions for interprovincial applicants within five days in 2023.
- July 2... Premier Tim Houston is touring parts of Cumberland South today with the local MLA, Tory Rushton. It has become an annual summer visit as Rushton presents needs and options.
